The following is a summary and explanation of the Colorado Blue Book, the voter guide for the 2026 State Ballot for Amendments and Propositions.  These summaries are done in good faith to be truthful, accurate and honest from a layman, general voter perspective.  I have no legal standing and I am not a legal consultant.  The goal is that you find these explanations useful in guiding your decision making.  When in doubt feel free to consult the actual text in the Blue Book.

Amendment 81: Law Enforcement Communication with Federal Immigration Authorities

A Yes vote will force Colorado law enforcement (police, corrections and district attorney) to notify Federal Immigration authorities when someone is arrected and charged with a crime (AND charged with a crime of violence OR has a prior felony conviction) AND they can Not prove that they are a legal citizen after given 72 hours to do so (illegal immigrant).

A No vote will keep things the way they are; Colorado will continue to be a sanctuary state where law enforcement does NOT report illegal felons and illegal people charged with violent crimes to federal authorities. There are federal laws to deport illegal criminals (when necessary), but states can block this by not reporting these attests to federal authorities.  A NO vote will allow Colorado to continue avoid federal laws to keep violent criminal illegals here.

Amendment 82: Constitutional Right to Purchase and Sell Natural Gas

Background: in December 2025 the Colorado PUC Public Utilities Commission issued a rule to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 41% by 2035.  In response, new building permits no longer allow natural gas appliances (gas furnaces, gas hot water heaters, gas stoves/ovens, gas clothes dryers). Think about it: failure to install natural gas burning appliances forces electric appliances to be installed instead, these burn COAL.  COAL produces electricity, so reducing natural gas usage increases COAL usage. This does not reduce green house gas emissions, infact it probably will increase it. Either way to heat your house whether by gas furnace of electric heating, to reduce gas furnaces by 41% you must increase electricity by 41%; thats 41% more coal.

A Yes Vote will allow Colorado to purchase, sell and use natural gas products (methane and propane) for homes and businesses for uses like (gas furnaces, gas hot water heaters, gas stoves/ovens, gas clothes dryers). A Yes vote blocks the PUC's new rule.  A Yes vote allows the continuation to use natural gas installation, maintenance and usage.  If there is a way to reduce geenhouse emissions by 41%, I would love to hear about it, but I seriously doubt that not installing new building permits for natural gas appliances has anything to do with it; if fact this is more likely to burn more coal.

A No vote allows the Colorado's PUC banning of new permits for natural gas appliances (in a pointless attempt to comply with reducing gereenhouse emissions by 41%) but ironically increasing coal burning by 41% to create electricity.

Amendment 83: Constitutional Right to Hunt and Fish

A Yes vote adds hunting and fishing rights to the Colorado Constitution.  Currently Colorado laws already have hunting and fishing rights, so adding it to the constitution is not a necessary move.  By adding it to the constitution it is intended to make it more difficult if there were a Proposition in the future which dramatically alters or bans hunting and fishing laws.

A No vote keeps the Constitution the way it is.  Colorado has plenty of laws and regulations to safeguard hunting, fishing, preservation, protecting endangered species, preventing illegal hunting and trapping.

Amendment 84: Mail Ballot Voter Identification

A Yes vote will require voters to add federal identification (real-id Colorado drivers license or Colorado identification or last 4 of SS) to their mail in ballot, in addition to their signature. Currently only the signature is required which is a subjective interpretation and has no federal check.  The purpose of this is to ensure US citizens (and naturalized and green card and non-felons) are voting.  This has always been a right of the citizens.  Currently states can issue fake drivers licenses to illegals. States with Real ID are federally authenticated to be US citizens. A Yes vote will ensure that illegals are not illegally voting. One political party is in favor of fake drivers licenses for illegals and illegal voting, while the other party wants to protect and enforce this right for US citizens.  These new steps need to be added to an outdated and antiquated system than can easily be falisified by one political party.

A No vote will contiue to allow illegals in Colorado to vote. This is against the law and needs to be stopped.
