Arthur Blessitt

Arthur Blessitt is and amazing missionary who started out in the 1970's in the Sunset Strip area of Los Angeles.  There he dedicated his life to an unusual style of reaching out to people while witnessing.  He built a large wooden cross, put a small wheel at the base and walked with it all over LA meeting people and telling them about Jesus and the Bible.  After covering LA, he set his sites on walking across the entire state of California.  After completing this, he set his sites on crossing the whole United States; yes, he walked across the entire United States!.  Next he went on to conquer the whole world; it took him 40 years to walk across and to preach in every nation in the world.  Today Authur and his family live in the Denver metro area and they can still be seen occasionally in the suburbs carrying the cross.

Sid Roth

Compassion International

Compassion International a world wide organization that sponsors needy children in many underdeveloped nations.  Compassion's headquarters are in Colorado Springs, CO.  Compassion gets people in the US like me to monetarily support their mission.  What they do is provide the Gospel and food to needy children in needy nations.  They work with local Churches, local leaders, interpreters and local teachers to set up in the already existing, barely attended Churches.  They don't waste time, money and resources buying property and building Churches.  Pay is minimal but it is generous considering the poverty of the community.

They send out word through the community that they will pay for pastors, leaders, teachers to teach schoolwork and the Bible to kids who come to Church.  Furthermore the kids will be fed one meal a day when they enroll in the program.  Up to two kids per family are extended this offer although many families have several children; the reason for this is to impact as many different families as possible. 

The kids go to Church on the weekday mornings before going to school.  The reason for this is that often their parents leave the house in the morning to go to work long before the kids go to school.  Often the parents make the kids leave the house also, but with nowhere to go before school starts.   This time, when left without adult protection, can be very dangerout for them; they are likely to be abused, kidnapped, forced to work, etc.  The ability for the kids to go to the Church in the mornings is a huge blessing for the families that accept the sponsorship.  In the mornings, the Church teachers make sure that the kids complete their homework before going to school. 

For the same reasons, after school, the kids come back to the Church until their parents come home.  The kids are fed a generous portion of healthy food at the Church.  This immensely helps the parents because they often do not have enough food to feed the whole family.  The Church leaders teach the kids about the Bible with a Sunday School like program.  Also the teachers make sure that the kids do their homework.  The Church provides the kids a safe environment before and after school to eat, play, study, learn, sing, grow, etc.

All kids are welcome whether their parents are Hindu, Muslin, Buddhist or Christian.  Of course, no kids are forced to accept Jesus, they are however required to at least attend Christian Sunday School.  Many of the parent are callous and force their kids to remain Hindu, Muslim or Buddhist despite enrolling in and benefiting immensely from this program.  But this is the parents callousness, not the kids.  The kids are welcome despite the callousness of their parents.

Intervarsity is a Christian college, campus centered, leadership training, program.  The students join workshops, Bible Studies, short term missions, leadership training, evangelizing training, quiet time, self study, etc.

Calvary Chapel  is an amazing network of Churches whose pastors have really Biblical sound messages.  The network of pastor sermons can be heard on 89.7 Grace FM.

89.7 Grace FM

Grace FM Radio 89.7 regularily has Christian music, but it also has actual pastor sermons.  This Christian Radio station is owned by Calvary Chapel Association and the sermons are from the pastors in the network.

91.1 KLOVE

91.1 KLOVE Radio is a Christian station.  It has limited commercials that are not secular; its sponsors are Christian businesses.  They also fund-raise once a year so it is important for listeners like us to contribute if we can to do our part to keep this excellent resource on the air reaching the believers and the unbelievers.
